My Double Life

Its very nasty outside today, it’s sleeting and raining and the sidewalk is very slippery and I am probably going to fall and physically break something as I walk and dictate to my phone... whether a bone or my phone I’m risking something today as I'm out here with my dogs focused more on the text being translated to my phone rather than where I’m stepping.

I'm very tired right now, I went to bed really late last night because I was chatting on Second Life. I had a good time, I really enjoy Second Life (Second Life, 2016) especially since I discovered the voice feature. It’s fun to chat anonymously and I really get talkative after I've had a few drinks. If I logon when I'm sober I don't find it as entertaining so I guess after the New Year when I begin my drinking prohibition (my annual resolution) my use of the app or site or network, however you refer to it will be probably stop.

Last night we discussed Trump and you know it's simply amazing how many people support him. I mean from all over the world (mostly Americans and racists) there are people that are praising the man because they believe he will make “America Great Again”, and then of course you have those that are critical of him and what he plans to do the U.S.A and the world (mostly Europeans and liberals...except the English… I guess with Brexit they are about as tolerable of diversity as the stereo-typical mid-western American Redneck).

There are people that come to the Second Life “locations" or "worlds” referred to as “trolls” who wander in, walk about, ranting and raving simply to annoy people. I actually think they are kind of fun because they rile things up. The other night there were these two guys that ran back and forth shouting their praises for Trump yelling things like “Trump Rocks!” or “Fuck Clinton” just to annoy people in the location. I love having the political conversations but a lot of people get really pissed off when politics are the main topic. What is really ironic if there is a discussion of substance such as politics or any topic that is really meaningful all the avatars (which are real people sitting at their computers) just stand around doing and saying nothing.

When someone bitches because we are talking politics I tell them even though they might not like talking about that particular topic at least it’s a conversation, if they can’t come up with anything else to talk about then at least let’s have some kind of conversation rather than standing around silently (and I say standing representatively in regards to the motions and actions of the avatars). I mean why go to a location just to stand around and at the first spoken communication complain because you don’t want to hear the topic being discussed. I mean either change the subject or leave the room but don’t bitch about a conversation that others are enjoying.

When I got into the room (or location as they prefer to call the sites… I mean really, if you call it a room they say “this isn’t chatroom it’s Second Life and these aren’t rooms they are places or locations”.... I mean like they really believe these virtual locations are real places...okay nutcase...whatever, we can call it a location over a room if that makes you feel better). Anyway when I entered this one particular “location” which in this case was “London City” no one was talking at all I mean some people were typing stuff (not using voice) but nothing of substance was being said, just stuff that you see in normal chat rooms “Hello”... “Hi”.... “Anyone out there?” but no real conversation.

So since nothing was being said I mentioned Trump and suddenly several people were in conversation. I was surprised at the reaction and really wasn't intending on getting into that particular conversation I was just trying to start something, anything, as everyone was just standing around silently or as I said typing “Hello”, “Hi”, or "Anyone out there?” So the way I introduced the subject was to mention that I was fearful as to how or what would occur when Obamacare was dissolved mentioning in particular the the pre-existing existing condition coverage that could probably go away or lifetime limits that people currently enjoy when insurance companies could once again exclude people like me with HIV or people like my husband with his heart condition who would no longer be able to ever get coverage again for the rest of their lives and would become financially destitute. I said thanks to Trump and the Republican plans I may lose everything I ever owned and worked for over a health condition. This one woman responded that she had no idea that pre-existing conditions could become a factor and she herself could possibly never be covered again for her conditions should such a change to our current protection occur, and she voted for Trump so some people didn't even know what they were voting for, other than a fantasy concept created by a madman.

If was a great conversation. There was this one woman I was speaking to and she was very Pro-Clinton and Anti-Trump and she was using the f word (“fuck” for those that don’t understand what that means) and she was using it left and right saying f*** this f*** that and I wasn't cursing at all, in fact I found her constant use of the f word annyong myself. I mean I was trying to be considerate of those that might not appreciate such language I mean I was sensitive to the point that when I quoted our future President regarding his recorded conversation when he spoke of the ease of obtaining “pussy” simply by grabbing it, I actually spelled out the word PUSSY, I didn’t say it, let me repeat, I spelled it, so I was actually less nasty than the future leader of the free world. Anyway as I was preparing to leave the location to “finally” go to bed, somebody said something about our talking politics and said that I should have been banned for constantly cursing. I never said a curse word at all and this really pissed me off. I said "wait a minute in no way did I say anything offensive" and emphasized that I did not curse at all during the conversation at least I don't think I did, I may have said “shit” at some point but the “f” word is generally not part of my vocabulary. I just don’t find it necessary to use the word.

I announced that when I joined Second Life I was looking for fun and conversation and not to start trouble, I mentioned that no one was having a conversation when I brought up the topic of Trump and what's going on in U.S.A. as a result of his win. I said that at anytime anyone could have changed the subject but instead they waited for me to say I was leaving the room and then people made comments like “Thank goodness, at least this topic will end” and such. I facetiously responded, “Okay, after I’m gone go back to standing around in silence, have fun”. So anyway it’s 12:35 AM. My husband just woke up where he was sitting in the recliner next to where I’m sitting and said he’s going to bed, and I’m joining him. Good Night.
